Birthday Card Class-Register Now!

Here's the next class I'm offering:

Make hand-stamped birthday cards for those special people in your life. Come use brand new In-Colors, the All in the Family stamp set, the Starring You stamp set, ribbon, twill, assorted punches including the star punch and slit punch, and more to create custom birthday cards.
You will learn watercoloring techniques in this class.

The class runs from 9-12,
choose either Saturday, 20 September,
or Saturday 27 September.

Register and prepay by Saturday, September 5th so I have time to order and prepare the materials.

Option A for $40 includes:

Recipe Card Class

Here are some recipe cards that I will teach you how to make at my next class on September 13th/ September 16th. Several people signed up at a workshop, and I kept on meaning to post the class to my blog so the rest of you could have the chance to sign up. I've had company at my house, and have been blogging less, so I didn't post it, and now the time has come for me to order the materials for the class.

If you are interested in taking the class in October or November please let me know. If there's enough interest I'll run the class again.



I used Naturals Ivory, Old Olive, and Really Rust in this collection of recipe cards, but you may choose the colors you like so that they coordinate with your kitchen.

CLASS INFORMATION:
Make recipe cards to fit a recipe box you already have.
If you are making 3 x 5 cards, choose two colors of card stock:

You will receive a roll of sticky strip to keep. I will prep the cards for you. Class is 2-3 hours long on a Saturday morning or on a Tuesday evening at my house.

6 x 6 Birthday Scrapbook Page

Here's a small scrapbook page I made with my All in the Family stamp set.
It's so cute and lets you make little people to match the loved ones in your life.
This is my friend's son; it's his first birthday.

Stamp Sets: All in the Family and Define Your Life
Card Stock: Ruby Red, Summer Sun, and Green Galore.
Ink: Basic Black, Bashful Blue, Garden Green, Pacific Point, and VersaMark, it's a clear ink that makes a watermark on card stock of any color.
(There's a little Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon in there too.)
I used the circle punches to cut out the green circles for his name.

I used VersaMark to stamp his name as well as to heat-emboss Happy Birthday.
VersaMark + Embossing Powder + Heat Tool = a pretty neat effect!

Here's a close-up of the watercoloring (maybe too close up!): I used watercolor paper, ink pads, and blender pens to make this mini-painting.

Bulletin Board

Here's a graduation gift I made for my sister!

If you couldn't already tell, she LOVES sunflowers!!

Her middle name is Joy, so that little stamp was perfect!
If you look carefully, you will see a lot of heat embossing on this project.

I even heat embossed on the ribbon with craft ink. This was actually just a picture frame, I removed the glass, and then inserted a thin sheet of cork. It's not too deep, so the tacks won't go in very far. Next time, I think I'll use a real bulletin board, but I really liked the framed look of this one.

Visit from In-Laws

As you may or may not know, my in-laws are here visiting from Egypt, so they've gotten to see me stamp quite a bit while they've been here.
So, while I was working on some card designs for a make and take, they decided to join in.

Here's a card that my mother-in-law made.

My father-in-law took my idea, and said I should give it a twist. He likes how things look when your eye is drawn to the "thirds" instead of "smack-dab" in the middle. So, these two cards he helped me design.


The idea actually came from a card that I saw Claire demo a few years back, when this stamp set was new. I like how she made it look like wallpaper using the tone-on-tone stamping along with the whisper white craft ink.
I incorporated heat embossing into the medallion; I've been having fun with my new heat tool.

Birthday Card Money Holder

Here's a card that features a money holder inside.

I watercolored the little boy with classic ink.

I took the same size card stock that I used for the original card, flipped it over and applied it to the inside crease of the card with sticky strip.

The I used the 1 1/4 inch circle punch to cut a hole for the president's face. I did have to fold the ends of the bill, since the card was shorter than the bill.

Carte Postale
I really like the elegance and versatility of this set. The top flower and the background flowers come from Carte Postale. It is retiring in a few more days on 10 August, along with many stamp sets and accessories. The flowers underneath are from Baroque Motifs, which is a set you'll find in the current catalog.
The bold combination of Ruby Red and Chocolate Chip is new for me. I actually tried to make the flower spin using a penny sandwich method on SCS, but it didn't work the way I thought it would. But, it does make the flower stand out much more than dimensionals alone.

Other stamps & accessories: sincere salutations, circle rhinestone brad from the fire collection, circle punches, scallop punch, and 1/16 punch.

Well, the person for whom I designed this card may see it here before I actually send it ;-).

Cherish Card

Here is a fun card that I made with Cherished Memories rub-ons and Spring Silhouettes Designer Series Paper. These two accessories may only be ordered through the 10 August, if supplies last that long.Here's a close up of the embellishment; again you'll see the Carte Postale flower. I made this card before I received the circle punches, so the flower is not a perfect circle.
